Ashley Pearson is a theatre director, playwright, and musician originally from Western Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in abstract mathematics and liberal arts from Quest University Canada. Ashley is intrigued by the question “what does it mean to be human?”, and believes that theatre is uniquely situated to answer this question, as theatre the mirror with which we examine society, culture, and ourselves. In her work she explores the individual and social construction of identity, and the tension between our rational and emotional selves. In 2010, Ashley was an apprentice director at New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theatre Festival. She composes music, and plays classical piano and bass guitar. Ashley has worked as a research fellow and peer tutor in subjects including mathematics, logic, astrophysics, quantum mechanics, and creative and academic writing. Ashley is currently in the midst of her MFA in theatre directing at East 15 Acting School.
